Mp101 netgear software

Cheers again. Yep, it will work fine, even better, with twonky than the netgear software. I use my MP with twonky and it is much more reliable. Uridium Member. April 25, p. Wireless Music. Netgear's MP is among the first digital media receivers to play user-selected tracks and albums from Rhapsody's fee-based, online streaming music service.

The relatively inexpensive MP is shaped like a miniature home-audio component. It has a crisp-looking, small four-line text display that's readable so long as you're no more than six or seven feet away from it. Unlike Creative's Wireless Music product, the included compact remote doesn't have a built-in LCD for navigating tracks, but the conveniently placed Home button makes it easy to return to the main menu while artist, track, genre, playlist, page-up, and page-down buttons simplify music navigation further.

Although some video-enabled digital media receivers utilize faster Installation is simple enough as you just power the device on and let it search for available wireless networks.

The display keeps you updated on its progress and it had no problems finding our It will show all discovered networks and you use the remote control to scroll through them and select the one you want to connect to. When the unit attempts to associate with a secured access point it automatically detects that WEP is enabled and asks if you want to activate this on the player. Adding music files to the Netgear collection is easy enough as the import function scans selected drives and folders looking for MP3 and WMA files.

You can even use a built in scheduler to scan selected locations at regular intervals. Your next job is to organize the files into playlist, album, artist and genre categories. Track details can be edited so you can add information about the artist, album and genre although for a large number of tracks this can get tedious.

Smart playlists make things even easier as you can match conditions based on any or all of these categories and use keywords to automatically populate a playlist. Update: Loaded up the updated firmware, and tested with a Win 7 machine running the TVersity server. Looks like everything is working: ID3, continues to next track, streaming radio.

Note that you must use an XP instance to install the firmware I had to launch a VMware XP box to do it. Trying to install the firmware from Win 7 resulted in 'File Not Found' from the Netgear media server when trying to find the update.

Thanks very much for the firmware upgrade tip. Worked like a charm. Looked all over for a solution and found it here. My MP was on the 1. Upgraded it to 1. Thanks again! Ok, running windows 7 home premium Great fix, thanks to everyone who worked on this firmware. I tested it for 20 minutes after applying this new firmware and it seems to have worked. It seems most of the media streaming players don't have a display so you can't watch TV and browse your music at the same time. Hi I'm running Windows 7 and I've just upgraded the firmware via an old XP machine and everything is fine.

I'd read about this new beta version but hadn't been able to track it down. Thank you very much indeed - my life is complete again how sad is that? Thanks again and keep up the good work. Kind regards Tony Nicholson. Does anyone know if the version here is newer or better? Yours sounds like it's official. The file posted here is UNofficial and was made to support Vista, and was released in I think.

GREAT resources there. Dusted off my MP having retrieved it from the loft. Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up! Thank you so much! Applied this upgrade and, after a few more tweaks, it worked fine! At some point I will do a restart of the server and see if I can change back to autodetect - some day I might have another streaming device!

However, the then told me to "authorize this device". At this point I went back to TVersity as above! Thanks for this update.
