Default duplex printing windows 7

Is it possible to enforce duplex printing by default for every users on AD. Unless the user deliberately choose to print single sided, all print jobs should be duplex double-sided. Your question largely depends on whether or not you're using a managed print server.

If your users are connecting through a common server to these printers and not directly via IP or some other method that bypasses the server , you can share out your printers within your network and have the users add the queues from there. One easy way to do this is to create a shortcut on a shared network repository so when the user logs in, connects to the repository and selects the printer shortcut, the queue will be added from the server.

In this way, you'll be able to manage the driver default for all users connecting to this particular device; however this may not work if you're only attempting to apply this setting for certain users.

You could in theory make separate queues with the different settings and have users connect that way, but depending on the scale of this implementation you may be faced with an uphill challenge. Printing defaults can be set on the printer in print management on the print server. I've always done this by right-clicking the printer and selecting "Set Printing Defaults Everything set here is supposed to propagate to any connected clients, including paper selection, duplex, etc.

By "Default" I mean that's what the server tells the clients to default the settings to -- the user can change them. And that's what's supposed to happen, but I've seen with some printers, particularly our Canon, that the watermark settings under "printing defaults Article Id: Earth Smart settings allow you to reduce environmental pollution by reducing the use of materials and energy in the printing process and displays a visual representation of the savings made.

The Preferences or Properties window will be displayed. Make sure 1-Sided Print is selected from the 2-Sided Printing pull-down menu. This issue has been corrected in many of the drivers for Windows 7 but may still occur on Windows 7 systems that were updated from Vista.

The patches for Vista will work in Windows 7 as well if needed. Check here before proceeding with my patches, the HP solution is better automated for installing the fix.

Some network connected printers such as the Photosmart C may incorrectly indicate that the duplexer hardware is not installed when printing duplex pages. Clicking "OK" will cause the pages to print properly. HP has released updates for the drivers that address this issue, check the HP driver page to see if any updates are available for your model.

If your printer does not have an update available there is a workaround that may help: some users have reported that temporarily installing the printer as a USB connected device, then changing back to networked once the installation has completed will fix the issue.

Go to the printers folder, right click on the LJ , Run as administrator, Properties, continue , Device Settings make sure "Duplex Unit for 2 sided printing " is set to "Installed" under installable options, OK.

When printing go to the Finishing tab and select "Print on both sides". If this does not work please specify whether you are using the built-in driver from Vista or the one from HP downloaded here. Also please indicate what happens if you select duplex printing - are there any error messages?

I have an HP laptop computer printing to a Deskjet printer. Recently added a duplex option to the printer, and cannot get it to duplex by default or at all.

I've gone through several of the suggestions here, and have ensured that the printer settings have the automatic duplex option "Installed," manual duplexing "Disabled," automatic duplexing set as default, etc. I was able to get it to automatically duplex in Word by selecting the print template to "Two-sided duplex printing," but it does not "stick;" rather, it has to be selected for every print job.

I see where you asked another poster whether he is using the HP driver or the Vista driver; I think I'm using the Vista driver, but honestly I'm not sure how to check the driver version for a printer. And on all of them, if duplex was available, it was set as default option.
